Daily Rant: Information Overload

We love you LIFE family and we do want to know all you want us to know about you but please make sure you are aware of who you are letting know what.  We have spoken with several employment coordinators and professional dating and matching agencies and they are stressing that people really don’t know the damage they are causing themselves due to an excess of information being divulged.

As many people are aware, in Canada, America and several other places in the world, companies are increasingly using Facebook, Youtube, MySpace, Twitter & Plenty of Fish to do extra background checks on potential employees.  So if you are a job seeker with an impressive resume but cannot to seem to pass the first or second interview perhaps you should think of that youtube video of you on vacation on stage giving a body shot; sure it was vacation but what adverse impression could that make?  Do you have a profile on a website somewhere with suggestive content.  In these recessive times we need every edge manageable,  so if you are not using privacy settings on your internet network sites please do not complain about your lack of success in finding employment.

Mel & Robyn Gibson Divorce and Split Almost A Billion Dollar Fortune!

It’s an Easter miracle! Mel Gibson’s wife Robyn has filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage. TMZ broke the news and reported that they have been privately separated for two and a half years. Mel’s drunk driving arrest, when he coined the term “sugartits,” was in July 2006. You gotta hand it to Robyn for standing by Mel during that heaping helping of “for worse.” But really, who needs to stand by your man when his inner drunk believes wars are caused by Jews? Robyn has filed for sole custody of their youngest of seven children–Tom, who is 10 today. Their other six are all over 18 and as self-sufficient as movie stars’ offspring get. Robyn, who met Mel after his starmaking turn in 1979′s Mad Max, is also entitled to half of Mel’s movie star fortune, which is estimated at $900 million. That $450 million payday would handily beat the $168 million Michael Jordan paid his ex-wife Juanita in 2007 and make this the most expensive celebrity divorce of all time. So wait: does this mean that when Mel was hanging out with Britney Spears he was being more than neighbourly? When Britney and her dad were staying at Mel’s Costa Rican estate in 2008, a source said Mel and his wife were both concerned about Britney Spears’s problems (e.g. dressing herself, feeding herself). “Mel and his wife Robyn clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible,” a source told People in May ’08. But come to think of it, Robyn never attended any of these so-called guidance sessions. Mel has been linked to Russian singer Oksana since late ’08, when the younger woman was seen hanging around the set of his upcoming dramatic thriller Edge of Darkness. Mel was again seen hugging a woman in a bikini who bore a similarity to Oksana on the beach at his place in Costa Rica. Mel has said she is just a “colleague.” For Oksana’s sake, I hope that’s true. As for Robyn, I hope she enjoys her money. She’s earned every penny of it, even just for putting up with his facial hair.

The Obama Family’s New Dog; A Gift From The Kennedys!

We’ve already told you the Obama dog is a used pooch — with a past! Here’s the lowdown.

Bo, the Portuguese Water Dog whose original name was Charlie, was sold by a Texas breeder on December 8, 2008. The family that bought the dog paid $1,600.

But there was a problem. The family already owned a 6-year-old female Portuguese Water Dog, and when little Charlie came to the home he got off on the wrong paw by trying to nurse on the big dog.

Things went downhill from there. Right around St. Paddy’s day, the family made the decision to return the pooch.  The breeder, who had advance warning Charlie was about to become an orphan, had already been speaking with Senator Ted Kennedy and his wife, and made a deal to re-home the pup to the Kennedys, who paid the breeder $1,600. BTW, the breeder returned the original $1,600.

The Kennedys bought Charlie with the intention of giving it to the Obamas.  Charlie went from the home he had been living in to a dog trainer in Virginia, where he’s been learning the tricks of the trade for almost a month.

In a few hours the Kennedys will officially give the pup to the Obamas.  Such is the life of a dog …

Fashion: For the Most Official B*tches

As stated on Married to the Mob‘s official website, the clothing line is a tribute to the MOB, “‘The Most Official B*tches’ who through the ups and downs and highs and lows never failed to have her back”.

“Design inspiration for the label is literally up from the streets of New York and its clubs, secret hang-out spots and smoke-filled parties, making MOB equal parts chic, smart-mouthed, and definitely not-to-be-messed with”.

Leah’s funding for MOB came in a very unusual way. In 2005, a year after Leah started the line, she got into an altercation with a male police officer in NYC. The officer beat her so bad, she was left with a broken tooth and black eye! Leah took it to court, won the settlement, and invested the money into Married to the Mob. She eventually designed this tee that featured her mug shots from the incident on it.

MOB is now flourishing with a full collection of tees, denim, knits and more, while Leah has become well known as a true NYC hustler. Beyond her business success, she is also a mother to baby girl Kier, who will be 2 years old this summer. The brand has successfully collaborated with Reekbok, Nike and other brands, creating exclusive gear that flew off shelves.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE – I can’t wait!

I cannot wait for this movie and if you collected comics in the 90′s I know that you can’t either.  Each trailor looks cooler than the last; I don’t care how nerdy my anticipation may seem.  Invite a friend and go see this and then you will understand why so many people felt Wolverine was not protrayed properly in the X-Men franchise.  Movie in theaters May 1st, 2009.  Here is some insider info:

Director Gavin Hood has been helming a Wolverine movie that delves into the origins of the hero, from his childhood to the day Logan got his skeleton infused with the indestructible adamantium alloy. Opening in theaters on May 1st, the film is starring Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Lynn Collins.

Some may feel that the Wolverine shown in the previous X-Men movies wasn’t close enough to the cantankerous character from the comic book. Well, Hugh Jackman was sharing this point of view, and being both lead actor and producer of the upcoming Wolverine movie, he tried to put Logan aka Wolverine on a better track:

“I’m not mad about it, but I thought he had gotten a bit soft. I thought we had gotten away from the essence of who Wolverine really is: a bad (dude) who wants to live his own life.

The character has always reminded me of Dirty Harry or Han Solo. He’s a good guy, not a nice guy. He’s got a lot of flaws, which I think is what people find so attractive about him and the X-Men. LIL KIM DANCES UNTIL SHE FALLS OUT

We all love a little Lil Kim and she has been going hard with her “Dancing With The Stars” gig.  In this episode she has a wardrobe malfunction but is saved by the host.  Rumor has it she signing with Akon.  We’ll keep our eyes on the female auara of Biggie – Yea I said it!

Babyface Launches New Label; Works With Newest Debarge, Kristinia

Famed music producer/singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is returning to overseeing the careers of singing sensations, with the launch of his new record label Sodapop Music.

News of Sodapop’s arrival comes years after Edmonds co-founded the iconic Hip-Hop/R&B label, LaFace Records, with fellow music mogul L. A. Reid.

During its heyday in the 1990’s LaFace introduced the public to revered Atlanta rap duo Outkast as well as fellow rappers Goodie Mob, Cee-Lo Green, Dolla and Youngbloodz and Petey Pablo.

The label’s golden touch extended into R&B with the arrival of TLC, Toni Braxton and Usher as well as Ciara, Pink, Donnell Jones and Tony Rich.

Edmonds and Reid parted ways with LaFace by the end of the ‘90s as Edmonds concentrated on his music career while producing fewer LaFace artists.

Reid followed suit in 2001 after he was appointed chairman/CEO of Arista Records, which had joined with BMG Records to acquire LaFace completely in 1999.

Reid currently serves as the chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group Edmonds hopes to repeat the success he had with LaFace at Sodapop Music, utilizing Island Def Jam’s newest artist, Kristinia Debarge.

The 19-year-old entertainer, who is the daughter of DeBarge keyboardist and founding member James DeBarge, is creating a buzz for her forthcoming debut album with the release of her new song, “Goodbye.”

Edmonds played an active role in the project’s creation by writing and producing many of the tracks featured on the album, including “Goodbye.

In the coming weeks, Kristinia DeBarge will shoot a video for the single in Los Angeles.

The singer’s debut album is slated to hit stores in the summer.
