TEDDY RILEY SPEAKS ON SPOILED DAUGHTERS’ ABUSE CLAIM
New Jack Swing pioneer and Blackstreet founder Teddy Riley is denying reports that he assaulted one of his daughters, claiming the allegation is the result of a financial dispute.
Riley’s 18-year-old daughter Taja filed a temporary restraining order against her father, claiming that she and her older sister were stomped and punched.
The Los Angeles court filing also states that Teddy Riley allegedly threatened to kill them while swinging a Rock Band video game guitar.
In a prepared statement, Riley explained that he spoiled his children over the years, and his daughter’s legal case is a response to him being a stronger disciplinarian.
“I love my daughters, but I will not allow my children to disrespect me in my home. Contrary to what I have been accused of, I would never beat my children,” Riley stated to TMZ.com. “Perhaps, I should have been a stronger disciplinarian as they were growing up. I worked very hard so that my children would want for nothing. In hindsight, I see that it was a mistake to give them everything they wanted so that they could have the childhood I never had. Unfortunately, they have taken me, and the privileged life I have given them, completely for granted.”
While not directly addressing specifics from the incident, Riley further alluded to the confrontation happening over some form of disrespect.
“Instead of being appreciative and realizing how fortunate they are, my children have an inflated sense of entitlement and expectation without having to work or earn their way,” Riley continued. “However, my ‘children’ are no longer children, they are adults and I am trying to instill in them values and a work ethic of their own. I am not an uptight Dad, I am as hip as they come but I will not tolerate being taken advantage of or disrespected, especially in my home… I’m asking everyone to let this one go… I’m only being a good parent. I’m a great father and everyone who knows me, knows this is true.”
At press time, Teddy Riley has to remain at least 100 yards from his daughter Taja until their January 2010 hearing.

This addition to the list is obvious. Drake has had the most success of any Canadian artist and he has not even dropped an official album yet. Not to mention he is the hottest, new artist out on the planet. Drake is repping our city and making us proud. Hate him or love him, Kardi put us on the map and Drake is making us a major musical destination.
JUICE ROCHESTER
Juice Rochester is a homie from back in the day of mine. We met through shared friends but more importantly, those in the know know that he has been working on his project for some time and it has the potential to really make some noise and cross genres.
PAGE
Page is an artist with ever growing presence in the city of Toronto. With a smash hit under his belt featuring Drake (I’m Still Fly) and a previous hit to his name (Balling Is My Hobby), Page and his team are expected to make some noise next year.
VERSE
I’m not going to go any deeper with the reasons why I will be leaving a mark in 2010, than I have with my peers but know that there is a lot on deck. With my current single Hard to Breathe charting number 2 behind Jay-Z in some Canadian cities before it is officially released, things are looking good.
FORD, CAR COMPANY OF THE YEAR!
FORD has gotten ahead of everyone by one full year. Many people I have spoken with are declaring 2010 a year of reinvention, but FORD, in a do or die situation brought on by the recession, got ahead of the curve. This company put its people in gear by reworking a new deal with their unionized staff; rolling out new car models and upgrades and offering intense public incentives to buy new American cars again. Not one to buy local, even I was surprised and swayed into buying American (Lincoln LS). They asked us to support them and promised they would get their act together, we did and they kept their word.
Initially laying off employees and taking some of the handout money offered by the government, FORD has called workers back to work and has already paid back the money borrowed from the government. For all of this we tip our hats and rev our engines for the American powerhouse that drove straight through the most recent recession.
OUR PICK FOR SOCIALITE OF THE YEAR IN 2010
Ice T is known for having jaw dropping chicks and his lady Coco is no exception. Over the top and paparazzi hungry, she has been making noise throughout the industry in 2009 but ultimately has been out-shined by Amber Rose but don’t count this ‘down a** chick’ out yet. Coco loves the camera, has a strong male following and has an industry player as a boyfriend. Proof that she may be next year’s “IT” girl. Look at the footage below that is being circulated everywhere. Even doing nothing (well being half naked) she gets media attention. Below are some pics that made Ice T’s side piece popular this year.

BEST SELLING ARTISTS IN 2009; YOU WILL BE SURPRISED!
AllHipHop.com did a run down of the top sellers of Hip Hop music in 2009 and you may be surprised who made the successful sales this year. Here goes:
Eminem, has the best selling Hip-Hop album of 2009. Known as the Michael Jackson of Hip Hop in terms of sales, Eminem left the competition in the dust moving 1 533 184 CDs of Relapse. If you still have not got the album and want to it is being re-released with an additional 7 songs on an album called Relapse: Refill.
Black Eyed Pea’s fifth album sold 1,440,895 copies in great part due to their singles and a little Toronto drama with Paris Hilton LOL. This album continues to sell even today, never dropping out of the Top 50.
Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 sold 1,337,192 copies this year, quieting talk about being too old and out of touch. Jigga proved his Masonic influence is still strong. Its the ROC!
Rick Ross proved quality music is most important when his image and credibility was almost shattered by a ruthless attack campaign by 50 Cent (I believe Lil Wayne’s kissing of Baby already proved this). Anyway, the Bawse sold 401,000 copies of his third album Deeper Than Rap.
BUSTA RHYMES PLEASE COME BACK
Busa Buss has long been the remix verse king and dropped a horribley slept on classic (the album before last) all the while reinventing himself. This year was notabley quiet, so here in the LIFE building are making an open plea for Busta Rhymes to return to the game and show these new rap artists how to Buss a rhyme. WE MISS YOU BUSS!
AMBER WINS SOCIALITE OF THE YEAR!
We have chosen Amber Rose for the out of nowhere “IT” girl who transformed from stripper to model and intrigued the fashion and urban world effortlessly. The last person to gain this attention for arguably nothing was Kim Kardashian and if she is an example of Amber’s future than we can expect big things.
So Amber is our pick for socialite of the year for making a bald headed model a force to be reckoned with and not a joke (as anyone would of initially thought prior to seeing her). Amber we salute you and in doing so salute Kanye for being lucky enough to take you home.
BLACK WOMAN SUFFERING FROM A SHORTAGE OF BLACK MEN!
I love my black woman like cooked food and an episode of the Cosby Show, so it pains me to bare witness to the plight of African American woman in America. There seems to be a genuine shortage of eligible, marriage material black men in America. Ladies do you find this to be true?
