L.A. RIED OF DEF JAM FAME TO BE AXED?!
The Ugly (AllHipHop):
Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group International out in the UK, will replace Doug Morris as CEO of Universal Music Group (UMG) January 1, 2011. UMG is the parent company of Def Jam and as you may know L.A. Reid is the Chairman of The Island Def Jam Music Group. I’m hearing when he takes over there will be a lot of “re-structuring” at Universal and Mr. Reid’s head may be on the chopping block. Apparently Lucian isn’t happy with a string of disappointing projects including Rihanna’s last album, which only sold 2.5 million worldwide while her previous album sold 2.6 million in the U.S. alone, Mariah’s last album flopping and Lady GaGa becoming a superstar at Interscope after Def Jam dropped her. Also, Lucian isn’t very happy with L.A. Reid’s self promoting demeanor and thinks his private parties, media presence and a reality show he is currently shopping are a gross display of his wealth. L.A. DID just move his Hitco Publishing company from Universal to EMI might be getting ready to split. Hopefully this Shyne project pays off or it may be the final nail in the coffin.
YUNG BERG DENIES BEING PISTOL WHIPPED
Again, Yung Berg has deny rumours that he was pistol whipped. I hope its not true because if these rumours are even half true he would be getting jumped on a weekly basis LOL. He has been arrogant and ignorant in the past and it seems that he just rubs people the wrong way, anyhow below is denial.

EVE’S TAX ISSUES BECOME PUBLIC
Its looking bad for Eve right now and her paper game. Read below (AllHipHop):
Eve is the latest artist to run into tax troubles, as the rapper/actresses tax bill recently landed online.
According to The Detroit News, Eve owes over $357,000 to the IRS in deliquent state and federal taxes.
The IRS in Los Angeles filed two liens against her in January 2008, one for $242,245 and another for $56,597.
In January of 2009, the Los Angeles IRS filed two more liens against Eve, one for $29,439 and other for $29,059.
In January of 2010, Eve placed her four bedroom, five bathroom Los Angeles mansion up for sale for $2,295,000.
In February, it was revealed that Eve was a part of the federal government’s investigation into her ex-boyfriend, Teodorin Nguema Obiang, son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea.
Obiang is accused of setting up a number of front companies, including one in honor of Eve named Sweet Pink Inc.
He then allegedly laundered hundreds of millions of dollars in corrupt funds that were reportedly illegally diverted from Equatiorial Guinea’s gas and oil reserves.

PopEater.com reports that John has been trying to get Oprah to let him say sorry and further explain his racist comments. But…no dice. Oprah is also good friends with Mayer’s ex, Jennifer Anniston. Epic Fail…yes. John needs to just ride this one out.

Rumor is that Ashanti’s new album which is reported to soon be released on her “Written” record label, will be taken over to Aftermath. Hmmm, this is looking interesting, wonder what 50 Cent is thinking.
BEANIE SIGEL SAVED KANYE FROM GETTING ROBBED
I think Jay is a great artist but I also think a lot of his artists were cast to the way side once their usefulness passed. Even though a lot of people are looking at Beans funny for speaking on his situation with Jay, I think there is a lot that went on behind the scenes that has to be answered for. SHYNE SIGNS A 7 FIGURE DEAL WITH DEF JAM
Shyne has re-signed with Def Jam to the tune of a 7 figure contract . Miss Info broke the news, here is more info from her blog.
Here’s the scoop:
Multiple sources have confirmed to me that Shyne Po has signed a 7-figure deal with Def Jam.*
This ends a bidding war that had industry bigwigs vying for Shyne’s attention, flying to Belize, calling and courting, ever since the Brooklyn emcee was released from prison and deported to Belize back in October.
For Shyne to turn down hard-court pressure from Jimmy Iovine/Dr.Dre and others and instead join LA Reid back at his last known recording-residence actually seems like an inevitable move…. because I’ve been hearing that Shyne has been pow-wowing with veteran manager Kyambo “HipHop” Joshua for a while now. Joshua and his HipHopSince1978 partners, Gee Roberson, also manage Lil Wayne, Drake, Young Jeezy and more. Meanwhile, my old friend Al Branch is both a partner in HipHopSince1978 and a high-level exec at Def Jam…see how that works? Synergy! Now there have been recent reports of new label-wide pressures, but with this team in place, Shyne is in good hands.
As for the logistics, the plan is for Shyne to work out of London, it’s a buzzing hip hop hub with all the necessary facilities. Oh, and about that first verse which appeared on an early DJ Khaled album leak (and is allegedly scratched from the final track listing)…I’m hearing that Shyne didn’t intend that verse to be his first look. After nearly a decade inside, he’s allowed a little time to figure out what direction he’ll take.
*(obviously in this climate, these kinds of numbers are few and far between, so this certainly signals that labels see value in legacy or storyline. Drake got a reported 2 million last year. And of course, this is Shyne’s second time around in a bidding war.)
