WYCLEF NOT PERMITTED TO RUN FOR HAITIAN PRESIDENCY!

Everybody had weighed in on the issue, supporting either side and then the death threats came.  It was a run for Presidency that was announced in a flashy international way and embroiled in drama and changing alliances.  It looks like Wyclef would have been set up to fail and who knows how his relationship with Haiti would be affected.

It would seem that none of us will be able to see how this saga would have played out because Wyclef has been denied the ability to run for president.  His name is not on the approved list of presidential candidates, no doubt in part due to his not fulfilling the requirement that each contender live in Haiti for at least 5 consecutive years.  What an odd end for a Hip Hop legend’s bid for political greatness.

HIPHOP’S TOP EARNERS IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS!

Want to know whose getting money raps are based on real loot? AllHipHop has let the urban nation know that this year’s annual report is out.

(AllHipHop News) Forbes has dropped its annual list of the top money makers in Hip-Hop music and rap mogul Jay-Z has topped the list for a second straight year.

According to the report, Jay-Z, born Sean Carter, raked in $63 million over the past 12 months.

He will pay the government about $22 million, more than any other artist earned on the entire list, excluding Sean “Diddy” Combs, the #2 earner with $30 million.

“We put together this list by applying the same rigorous methodology we apply to our research for the Forbes 400, the Celeb 100 and other specials,” Forbes writer Zack O’Malley Greenburg told AllHipHop.

Greenburg, who is also penning a business-focused biography on Jay-Z told AllHipHop.com that information was gathered “concrete data” provided by companies like Billboard, Pollstar, Niesen Soundscan, the Recording Industry Association of America.

ITS OFFICIAL; G UNIT IS NOW DISTRIBUTED THROUGH EMI!

Many were expecting the G Unit general to take the team over to Def Jam because Sha Money XL is an exec over there but 50 surprised people by striking a deal with EMI, effectively removing them from the Universal/Interscope umbrella.  Honesetly, this did surprise me much because Def Jam would be an impossible fit.  50 is beefing with their hottest artist right now, not to mention Shyne.

The new deal will first bring us Lloyd Banks “Hunger For More Pt.2″ album later this year, followed by Tony Yayo’s album early next year.  This is full deal as in it covers, promotion, marketing and distribution.  I do believe it is do or die time for G Unit.

FOXY MAY BE THE DIVA NECESSARY TO BRING THE LEGENDARY “FIRM” BACK

Foxy Brown may have to play Godmother to bring all the Firm bosses together. We have lost something that was beautiful in HipHop and it is slowly re-emerging with some key new artists and the strong return of some seasoned vets. Most true HipHop fans would salivate at a genuine return of the legendary “Firm”. Read below excerpts of Foxy Brown and MTV’s Sway’s interview.

“AZ and myself are inseparable throughout the years. He can walk in my house and go inside the refrigerator, get whatever he wants,” she said. “Cormega is like my brother. You know Nas, Nas has gone his way. He got married and has gone through his own stuff. I went to prison, lost my hearing. We all just had our lives take different turns. We realized that everywhere we go, people are like, ‘The Firm, the Firm.’ A was like, ‘We gotta do this.’ That’s when the rumors started.”
