There is an industry robbery going on and guess who the victims are. I do not believe the reasons given for rising gas prices but that is an article for another day. This morning I watched and listened as CP24 reported that it is being forecasted that gas prices will rise beyond 1.40 litres this summer!
I was planning to buy a pristine BMW 745Li this summer and this is killing my enthusiasm. It is not merely the cost, which is reason enough, but this ever sky rocketing expense is taking away from the culture of driving; especially in regard to performance cars. I love big body, luxury sedans and hate public transit (buses not trains, Go-Transit and Greyhound excluded) but even I’m thinking its time to go electric.
Its time to look at everything again; my daily commute, the car I drive and how far I am willing to drive for entertainment. I hate being cheated more than I dislike spending money. I actually enjoy spending money when I am getting value.

I have a tip that comes from personal experience. Recently I decided to refinance my house and was surprised to be informed that I was the victim of identification theft. I can only guess where and how this happened but I have to admit that I have been reckless with my information and I have purchased online early during the internet revolution. Now I covet my info as I struggle to fix the lavish tendencies someone enjoyed on my tab.
So the point you ask? Many companies have realized this issue along with tightening of bank’s extension of credit and now provide re-loadable or preloaded credit cards. I know, the stigma of carrying such a card screams poverty to some but I would rather purchase a $50 to $150 preloaded card for online purchases (or purchases at shady shops), than to go through what I am dealing with now. Make sure your Christmas purchases are made safely or else you may be purchasing someone else’s gifts as well.
I have a rant; like to hear it?, here it goes. Dating is the most liberating, fun, exciting, crappy, hurtful, dishonest past time you can partake in. The confusion comes from the fact that if we are all honest with ourselves, dating is based on dishonesty. No one brings their crazy to the dinner table on the first date (I swear to God that I wish they did!), we all put our best foot forward and present an image of ourselves that shines brighter than our everyday self. When you are in a relationship you steal glances at the casual dater and try to hide your envy with disapproval. The truth is some of the most epic and memorable nights begin with dates. The feeling of someone and something new is incomparable but its false and never lasts, hence the need for new dates. You have to chase the high. Lets be honest, sometimes you need to fill up holes in your schedule, its great! You get to meet new people, go out and be taken out. Dates offer you the chance to get creative and experience new things and to even try on a new you before you present it to people you actually know. So what sucks?
Here is the skeleton in the closet and no its not the sex. Unlike sex, baggage is always on Continue reading
Muammar Gaddafi has ruled for 40 years in Libya and blood had definitely been shed. That being said though, the man governed over a population that grew by 3,000,000 that enjoyed an annual GNP per person from $200 to $14,000, free education, medical care, credits for families with 0% interest and automobile fuel for 0,14$ per litre. When the times were good, they were good.
All of this is being said to say that the man was treated as if he did not deserve a trial. He did horrible things; killed people with seemingly little regard and earned his fate but is this what we want? In the Western world we preach democracy and civility, the right to trial and humanitarian sentencing but we promote the savage murderers of dictators that we don’t support. Not only do we promote their killings but we often parade footage of their dead corpses, dictators that our Prime Ministers and Presidents have dealt amicably with before.
Be careful the trends you champion and the murders you cosign. What is at stake is not the lives of often evil, perilous men but rather our own civility. We are not as far away from these societies that do not lavish in the liberties we enjoy.

Honesty has been losing to lies for some time and now many find it hard to discern the truth from fiction. I truly believe we all lie but we tread dangerously when we lie to ourselves and worst off believe it. How did we get here?
I was thinking of what to write for my Monday daily rant as I struggled to remove Bahamian sand (which is more like fine crushed sea shell fragments than actual sand) from my shorts as I started packing to return to the city I love and the daily grind. I thought of the time I had here, the rest and the company of old friends I was blessed with and began to think about how I arrived here. It was a last minute trip that is sure to cause some belt tightening when I get home, but why did I get on a plane again. I had been back for barely a month from my last trip and yet I was tired.
My mind shifted to work, the on again off again relationships, office politics, gossip, competition and it was instantly clear; its the incessant lying that had me drained (My previous trip was a work mission and didn’t provide the full reboot necessary). I was raised by African and Caribbean parents, both of which were not into gossip or bullsh*t, yet lately I find myself immersed in it. It is a powerful fertilizer that permeates much of the entertainment industry. I expect and can tolerate dishonesty in entertainment, it is necessary there but now it is in vogue to be a liar in day to day interaction.
Monday is the end to everyone’s weekly vacation. It signifies the return to the machine; commutes, work and socioeconomic pressures. This Monday is scheduled to rain, Ford is still planning to cut services a la Harris and the DVP has been closed all weekend royally pissing off those who start their Monday’s brutally early (officially re-opened at 5AM).
Your going to have to get out of bed, fight your way through traffic; either a sea of people or vehicles, cater to acquaintances while still partially asleep and pander to your boss while they pile more work on your shoulders. But you have done this before. Your a champ. You have a winner’s attitude and no losses. Your ready for this constant rematch and you will win again. Down some food and coffee (if you drink it) and fuel that iron will. Set a goal and attain it today. Put up with no one’s negativity today. Ask out that person out that you have been admiring today. Get that job today.
It’s Monday, its going to rain and the traffic is going to be hectic. Put your gloves on, and show them why your the champ.

I find this couple incredibly hard to watch, its like dude has lost any sense of pride when it comes to Amber. Well it would seem others feel the same way and some take the topic even deeper. Read rap legend Luke’s take on it.

Wiz Khalifa needs to have his head examined. The boy behind the hit “Black & Yellow” has lost his mind over a woman interested only in hogging his spotlight. For months, Wiz has been dating former stripper Amber Rose, whose claim to fame is that her ex-boyfriend is Kanye West. Khalifa even tattooed the girl’s name on his hand. Now he’s beefing with Kanye because West dissed Amber at Coachella this past April and then, just recently, at the Essence Festival in New Orleans.
The United States is scheduled to fall into a double dip recession, China is looking to reduce it’s international purchases; both of these negatively affecting Canada’s juggernaut economy. Now we embark on another Monday where we hustle to jobs we may not love, in cars or public transport that we may not like – we get it, its tough out there. Humbly I ask you to remember two things; one Beyonce is still beautiful and she still wants you to look at her and two, coffee is still less than $2 a cup. Now get to work; we have an unshakable, maple drunk Northern economy to sustain. Good Monday morning. That is all.
Question for all the blackberry lovers out there. Bbm has been seen by many as a safe way to extend one’s self without getting too personal, like a phone number would entail. So being an outsider since I am an avid iPhone user (may change, the androids are looking great) I ask, for bbm users in a relationship, is giving out your bbm number to new non-business contacts courting your attention putting yourself out there in the wrong way? If one were to give out their number to people that are “interested”, it would be seen as disrespectful, yet I see it happen all the time with bbm PIN codes. Thoughts?
Its not fair, I know, but Chris Brown’s recent return to public favour also brings Rihanna to mind. And I would like to have an intervention take place for the diva who hails from the native island we share, Barbados. Do you remember “Pon The Replay”? Seems like a lifetime ago. I could not even begin to fathom the changes she must have gone through with the constant reinvention but she has endured. That being said Rihanna, I love the new Rude Bwoy track (how it should be spelt) and the feature you did that Eminem recently released “Love How You Lie” is sheer brilliance that being said, let this be your new direction.
The demonic images and cracked out attempts at some sort of stark artistry is a failed attempt supported by only die hard fans and trendy bloggers that rarely buy records anyway. Rihanna I am the truth and you know this, so take it from me and know that this is not what people want.
I hope we all learned from this now back to the Rihanna I am looking forward to hearing more of.
Aaah much better!
